about

"Dying is an art, like anything. I do it exceptionally well." --Sylvia Plath

"Some say the world will end in fire. Others say ice. From what I've tasted of desire, I hold with those who favor fire, yet also what I know of hate reveals that ice is also great, and would suffice." --Robert Frost

lyrics

If I find my inner self,
will it sound enough like Plath?
I listen with a Van Gogh ear,
cross-check each reference like Mike Hough,
who skated on that three-inch ice,
away off in the frozen North,
and strove in every coliseum,
with all who would prove their worth
but when I see my silhouette
I find my mind looks for Van Hunt,
a singer I have not yet heard,
which makes comparison quite hard,
but not as hard as introspection,
not as hard as resurrection.
Death can give me no protection,
nor can i teach it one lesson.
Dying, to me, is no art.
What I want is not in Heaven.
I'll pay the charge. I'll play my part,
Sign up for one chance in seven,
but when I think of our hereafter,
I hear pigeons in the rafters.
Some say the world will end in fire.
Until then it's here on Earth.
If I cannot live quite right,
I hope at least to live to write.
Don't look for me with the birds.
Find me, then let's find the words.
Let's find the words.
