I've always wanted to write a great work song like any of the many Tom Juravich writes. This might be my best attempt. It also owes a little bit to the obnoxious songs about obnoxious children on all of my childhood favorite Barry Louis Polisar records.
lyrics
Mr. R. Mr. R.
Please sign my hall pass Mr. R.
We know you by one letter.
Now get back into your car.
Maybe we'll see you again another day
if that old computer calls you you when our teacher is away
We all call you retarded, lame, too nice, too mean, too gay
We hit you and we kick you but we love you, in our way
But you teach us to be brave when you ignore these little scars,
so wherever there's a teacher feeling sick, near or far
You just call me up, and call me Mr. R.
Yes, call me up. I'll be Mr. R.
They told me when I started that some days would be rough.
That everything I ever learned might be just half enough.
Some days that's right. Other times I disagree
I think we really overestimated me.
Mr. R. Mr. R.
Please sign my hall pass Mr. R.
We know you by one letter.
Now get back into your car.
Maybe we'll see you again another day
if that old computer calls you when our teacher is away
We all call you retarded, lame, too nice, too mean, too gay
We hit you and we kick you but we love you, in our way
well, we may or we may not
but what other way to spend today have you got?
